TopicsAccessing the system of the Menorah given to us by Hashem during the seven weeks of consolation in order to prepare ourselves for Rosh Hashana.
The task of the seven weeks between the destruction of the Holy Temple on Tisha B’Av to the coronation of God on Rosh Hashanah is to repair connections that have been broken.
The menorah, specifically the Laminatzeach menorah, encapsulates both the break and the repair.
On Tisha B’av, the connection between the heavens and earth was broken. The Bais Hamikdash, the Holy Temple, was a vehicle to access the Divine Flow that would come down to us and we would create flow to the Beis Hamikdash above. The destruction caused a rift in this flow.
During the seven weeks of nechama, consolation, we aim to correct the flow and connect to it, even without the physical Beis Hamikdash there to guide and support us.
Simply having awareness of our ability to connect begins the process of nechamah, of consolation, and allows us to move towards Rosh Hashanah.
Lamnatze’ach, the sixty seventh chapter of Tehillim, has49 words that correspond to the 49 days of sefiras ha’omer, and all the different interactions that the Almighty has with His earth below..
Together, they form a menorah that reminds us of two things.
One is to constantly be aware that we are standing in front of Melech Malchei Hamelachim Hakadosh Baruch Hu, the King of Kings, as well as Shivisi Hashem, my placing Hashem lenegdi, before my face, tamid, constantly and consistently.
With the system of the menorah as our guide, we learn to say with absolute certainty, know in front of who you stand, in front of The King of Kings, Hakadosh Baruch Hu! I place Hashem in front of me all the time. This is the perfect symbol for the seven weeks of Nechama.
