In the second blessing of the Amida, known as Gevuros (Power), we find ourselves in a unique moment of celebration. This blessing, rooted in the attribute of Din (Judgment), offers us a profound opportunity to recognize and rejoice in Hashem’s Mighty deeds. While we are not permitted to ask for things within this blessing, we can celebrate Hashem through Rina, a joyful song of praise.

This blessing reminds us of the following divine acts:

      • Sustainer of the living with kindliness
      • Resurrector of the dead with great mercy
      • Supporter of the fallen
      • Healer of the sick
      • Releaser of the imprisoned
      • Fulfiller of His faithfulness to those who sleep in (the dust)

In these acts, we see Hashem’s Din being one of Rachamim (Mercy). Even within judgment, there is room for mercy and compassion. This celebration of Din prepares us for the brachos of request, where we can ask for more, knowing that Hashem’s blessings are expansive and flowing like a fountain (Breicha).

When we acknowledge Hashem’s judgment as being compassionate and therefore we see His Might in His Din, through His mighty deeds, we approach our requests with a deeper understanding and faith. We celebrate that Hashem’s judgment provides for us, heals us, and sustains us. This empowers our prayers and expands our hearts to receive more of His blessings.

May we sing joyfully to Hashem, celebrating His Din and the many ways He cares for us. And as we move into the brachos of request, may our prayers be filled with faith and anticipation, knowing that Hashem’s blessings are always abundant and generous.

By celebrating Hashem’s use of Din in the Gevuros blessing, we open ourselves to the endless possibilities of His mercy and kindness. Our prayers become more profound, and our connection to Hashem deepens. Let us continue to sing His praises and ask with faith, knowing that His blessings will always flow abundantly.
